Vava

Vava Eyewear is a designer brand of unisex sunglasses and optical frames founded by Portuguese designer Pedro Passos Da Silva, known for its futuristic, minimalist designs and a strong commitment to sustainability using eco-friendly materials.

Brand Philosophy and Design

Vava's mission is to represent the individual in control of the technological world, combining traditional craftsmanship with advanced technology. The design philosophy is heavily influenced by the Bauhaus movement and minimalism, using simple geometric shapes like squares, rectangles, circles, and triangles as foundational forms to eliminate superfluous elements and achieve a gender-neutral aesthetic. The brand envisions a future of equality, diversity, and inclusivity, with designs that are ageless and raceless.

Vava products are divided into different series, including:

  • Black Label: Represents a "Black Future" of darkness, decay, and the underground.

  • White Label: Focuses on a "White Future" of simplicity, cleanness, and purity.

  • Green Label: Associated with "Green Future" colors, dynamics, and light.

Materials and Sustainability

The brand emphasizes minimal environmental impact through conscious design and material selection.

  • Acetate: Frames are made from Mazzucchelli Eco-Friendly Acetate (M49), which is biodegradable and 100% recyclable.

  • Lenses: Vava exclusively uses Barberini crystal lenses, which are 100% recyclable and produced in zero-waste plants in Italy.

  • Hinges: Hinges are made from ecological and super light aluminum 6026, a material that is also 100% recyclable.

  • Production: The eyewear is handmade in family-owned Italian factories in the Treviso area, avoiding mass production.
